Last month a friend of mine posted a DIY pillowcase on her blog and I fell in love! Check out her page how to make your Valentines Pillowcases now! I can't wait to see your touch and how you make yours different! Since my fiances' proposal had to do with a phone as big part of it I had tons of fun! I added the date he proposed, an extra heart, coming from him "Amor!" his name, my name, and of course the last name. The only thing I would do differently is make the last name bigger and of course put actual pillows in the cases and marked where to put everything so it would be better to see. Just Started Couponing

Couponing is the in thing right now everybody is doing it and saving tons of money. I started couponing in December getting every Sunday paper and looking at www.couponmom.com for the money back or free items only. Today while I was getting ready for my friends funeral the extreme couponer show came on and I was fixated at their stories and strategies. For my family I decided to get more serious save more money on the items we really need.
In one hour I compared prices with coupons and made a list out my first list in one hour I feel like I did a pretty good job. I saved 19.00 and spent 22.00 on things we use. Check out the first of many shopping trips to come I am so excited with the buy one get one frees and 2.00 off the same item I ended up paying only 1.00 for my shampoo and conditioner together! The axe deodorant was 3.00 off and on sale for 3.88 yet I found one left on a side shelf on sale for 3.00 exactly so one free deodorant for the boys! The Dove men face and body wash had one bottle left on sale for 2.00 with a 1.00 off coupon ended up spending only 1.00. There is an eyeliner too that was on sale for .93 with a 1.00 coupon got .07 back.

Bacon Pancakes

Today preparing for the funeral of a great friend who I miss dearly I made bacon pancakes in memory of him. Chris Spears a wonderful friend who I will never forget and will never meet anyone like him. He was kindhearted, energetic, creative, comedian, and southern ghetto. He was the best spoons player ever, busting out in song randomly was common, fruity pebbles is worth fighting over esp with the Siamese cat he adopted from me and named after the cereal, coffee was a must with him, it was nothing for him to singe the edges of parchment paper write a soulful letter seal with wax and send out to brighten peoples days, lastly not to mention all of the time he spent overseas while taking online courses and random Skype nights. I will forever have a piece of me missing now.

I am happy and grateful that he married another best friend of ours and the last 7 months of marriage was spent traveling and in love. My heart breaks even more for Meagan and just wish I could take the pain away. Late night conversations of books, food, and drinks wouldn't even take her mind away like it usually does. I pray that she finds peace and comfort soon. They were perfect for each other and together they could run a comedy show together and make millions.

Therefore, today in honor of Chris with my family I made bacon pancakes and will tell you how this crazy wonderful friend of mine made them! You need two skillets, a bottle of bisquick pancake mix that you just add water and shake, a spatula, plate and BACON! Do two pieces of bacon at a time in one skillet.

Once they are cooked you take one piece and put it in the other skillet by itself and pour the mix on top of it.

Once the pancake cooks on one side you flip it over and cook the other side! Then you get bacon pancakes that are the best ever!!

Then you put on a plate and enjoy with friends and family! As Chris use to tell me coffee and bacon makes everything better, but coffee and bacon pancakes makes fireworks go off in the brain and ready to face the world!

24 hours in another persons life..Wow!

That famous saying walk a day in my shoes and you won't be saying what you do! Boy oh boy have I heard that my entire life from my mom and nanny always reminding me not to judge others not to bully others you don't know where they come from. I remember when I was little and got bullied like all kids and tried to tell others to live one day in my life and they wouldn't be saying what they do..psh yea right nobody ever listens to that. At some point we need to wake up and smell the tulips y'all just say "Bless It!" and keep on keeping on. I know it's hard to do but I found a trick that helps me keep my southern nose to myself and not judge others; furthermore, that does not mean I will not stick up for someone being bullied.
Here it is y'all every time someone irks you, hits that pet peeve of yours, makes you want to grr between your teeth I want you to write it down and list that person. Here is an example: There was a kid growing up that just irked me still does to this day as a grownup all of the other kids picked on that one. One day I got home and just started making a list of what I knew and started to talking to that person learning more. That person was a child of 14 in a 3 bedroom rental home living with their mother after their father left her for someone barely 18. All of them passed down clothes that didn't always fit right and by the time the youngest got it well it was stained, worn, and full of holes. Sometimes they didn't eat and you can forget television or internet...oh yes in the 20th century no tv or computer!! I felt horrible for ever getting aggravated at this person for just craving attention, wanting a friend, not the best of manners but when would they have been taught about manners or cleanliness when half the time they didn't have water of electricity. The oldest sibling had a nasty scar right across the face from a drunken night from the parents fighting and getting caught in the crossfire and how many times that one couldn't find a date as they were referred to as hideous and scary. There are many other stories of those I know bullied and judged foster kids told they didn't belong because their parents weren't blood related, a girl who committed abortion from threat of being kicked out of her home not knowing what other choice to make nobody to turn to, a girl who moved and lived in more schools than fingers and toes could count by 6th grade, a girl who moved here from another country illegal and feared to be sent back daily and what would happen to her parents and her 7 siblings. With each person you cross paths with daily there are stories to be told that map out why that person is who they are.
Just spend 24 hours in another persons life and that is all you need to find out who they are! Not everyone is perfect from perfect homes and families but deep down have great hearts! I myself come from a broken home born into a trailer park went to 3 different schools had 7 siblings as a child and an evil worse than snow white and Cinderellas stepmother. I got picked on oh you know it, but hey I graduated in a nice neighborhood with loving family had a 3.7 GPA upon college graduation worked for my dreams and am happy where I am at. Judging others is for police, doctors, attorneys, judges, politicians, advocates, and God not for you, me, or billy bob joe whoever. Before you open your mouth to down another person look deep down and see what it would be like to live in their life for just 24 hours. You might just end up flabbergasted at what you see! No matter the gender, orientation, religion or color love everyone!

Earliest Memory

Have you ever sat down and thought back to what your earliest memory is? Does it ever change over time? When I think back it is hard to tell what is memory and what is stories told by siblings and parents; when you have 7 siblings you get A LOT of childhood stories. One of my fondest childhood memories is sitting in a living room by a coffee table playing with My Little Pony's on a swing set and Ferris wheel. My granny telling me its time to put them up and go to bed so I put them in a box in a closet. I remember a hot hot soothing bath and wrapping up in a cheetah print blanket. I have always loved that memory the most. Later in life I learned that my granny died when I was 3 years old and I did in fact keep my pony's at her house. She never owned a cheetah blanket but according to my mom and nanny that she had a cheetah robe that she just loved when I told them of my memory of her. There are no pictures and no stories told of that; therefore, I assume that is my earliest memory.

To think that my earliest memory was at 3 years old; why just that one out of all of them and I wonder what memories my son will have at that age. My fiance's son loves to tell us about his memories of being in his mommy's tummy. We love to hear his story and talk about it with him; the sound of her heartbeat, her voice, how safe it felt as a baby. I know that he can't really remember that, but love to play along and let him use his imagination.
As I get older I forget memories as I make new ones and love when something like a sound, smell, touch or taste brings an old memory back. My childhood best friend, Joel, and I feeding the chickens out of the tree-house in his backyard, jumping on the trampoline, swinging on the rope swing 20 feet in the air to spot snapping turtles for my brothers, swimming in the creek catching crawdads, and our bunny Flop who was suppose to be a boy and ended up having baby bunnies during The Leprechaun movie. Other memories just slip away harder to remember parades, friends, teachers, hobbies, toys, etc just slips away and only those random ones stay.
All I can do is pray that the boys have just as much wonderful random memories of their childhood. It makes me happy knowing they can jump on the same trampoline, swing from the same tree (different rope swing now), catch crawdads in the same creek and hopefully hit as many pine cone home-runs as I did.
Memories are such peculiar things in life, but ever so fabulous when you need one to make you smile. Nothing like taking childhood memory pieces and putting in a college in a scrapbook. pieces of pine cone, a cutout from the old trampoline piece before the middle was replaced, pictures of the chicken coop and creek.
